How to create Google Analytics account?

Google Analytics is an Internet tool designed to analyze data and statistics from websites. It is provided by Google and is available at the following link: https://analytics.google.com/. To set it up, you need: a Google account (you can also link your email from another domain to Google), a website or application and administrative access to them.

What is it and what is it for?

Google Analytics allows you to provide you with a lot of information about your websites and/or applications, as well as any behavior that occurs on them. This service provides access to statistics and basic analytical tools used to measure user behavior on websites and applications.

How to create an account?

At the very beginning, you should be logged in to the Google account where you want to run the Google Analytics service. Then go to the link: https://analytics.google.com/, and select the button in the middle of the screen with the text: "Start measuring". It will redirect you to the first step of creating an account.

1. Set an account name.

2. Set up an account, i.e. set information such as: country, time zone and currency. Also specify the Google Analytics 4 service name.

If you want to create an Universal Analytics service, select "Show advanced options" and click on the slider on the right.

Give a name and enter the website URL. Also select http or https. At this point, you can create both Google Analytics 4 and Universal Analytics, or just Universal Analytics.

By creating both services, you can: Firstly, set up Google Analytics 4, which collects data in parallel with Universal Analytics. When you add the Google Analytics 4 tag to your website, data from your page will be sent to both properties. You can also switch between them through the selection menu or the "Administration" panel. Secondly, you have the option to combine the two services, which will allow you to migrate your configuration settings from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4.

3. Provide information about your business.

4. Accept the Google Analytics terms and conditions.

In the case of Google Analytics 4, the system will redirect you to your new account. Now the page says "Start data collection".

Select the type of source you want to measure data from (iOS App, Android App, or Web). After completing the form that will show up, your website or application will be added to "Data Streams". When you enter "Data Stream Details", all information about the given source will appear. At this point, you can also start downloading the Google Tracking Tag, which you can later add to your website or app.

All you have to do is select the last option from the "Google Tag" section in the details of a given stream, i.e. "View tag instructions". You will then be redirected to the installation instructions page. You can do it using a website builder or CMS system, or manually.

If you want to add Google Tag manually, you have to copy and paste the code snippet into the code of each page of the website right after the <head> element. The important thing is not to add more than one tag to each page. Completing these steps will cause data from your sources to be downloaded into Analytics.

You can read more about installing the Google Tag here:

If you created a Universal Analytics property, you will be redirected to the tracking details:

The global site tag (gtag.js) tracking code for this property appears. Copy this code and paste it at the very beginning in the <head> element of each page you want to track.

How to add an additional account?

In your Google Analytics account, you can add additional accounts to better organize and share your data. Detailed information on adding another account to the main Google Analytics dashboard can be found here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009694?hl=en

To sum up, log in to your main account, go to the gear wheel in the lower left corner (it will be marked as "Admin”) and select "Create account". The path of its creation is similar to the one you went through in order to set up a main account.

FEES

If you are interested in the issue of billing for the use of Google Analytics, don't worry, it is completely free, there are no annual fees or commissions for use. Google provides its service free of charge.
